Kundalini & Sexual Energy: The Force Behind What You Bring Into Being

Sexual energy tends to get filed under one narrow category in most people's minds. In tantra, it's understood as something much bigger: the raw material you use to create your entire life.

Ask most people what sexual energy is for, and the answer stops at pleasure or reproduction. Tantra takes a much wider view. Kundalini, the coiled, dormant energy that sits at the base of the spine, isn't only a sexual current. It's the same force behind will, creative output, magnetism, and a person's capacity to actually bring their ideas into physical reality. Understanding this changes the way this energy gets used, or wasted, day to day.

Sexual Energy Is Also Creative Energy

Notice the last time you felt genuinely alive, focused, and unstoppable, working on something you cared about… That state and sexual arousal aren't as different as they seem. Both are the same underlying current, simply directed differently. This is why so many people who create for a living describe their process in language that sounds almost erotic: charge, flow, being pulled into something bigger than themselves.

‍ ‍

When this energy is spent constantly and unconsciously, through habitual release, disconnected sex, or patterns run on autopilot, there's less of it left over for anything else. When it's cultivated instead, it becomes fuel that can be redirected toward whatever a person is actually trying to build.

Why This Energy Is Tied to Materialisation

In tantra, this energy is closely linked to Shakti, the creative force that moves the universe from potential into form. On a much more grounded, human level, this shows up as a person's ability to take an idea and actually make it real, whether that's a relationship, a business, or a piece of work.

‍ ‍

People who are chronically depleted in this area often describe feeling stuck, uninspired, or unable to follow through on things they genuinely want. People who have learned to hold and direct this energy consciously tend to describe the opposite: momentum, clarity, and things actually moving in their life rather than staying stuck as ideas.

The Sacral Chakra's Role

This energy begins in the root chakra and is closely connected with the sacral chakra, located just below the navel. The sacral (or sexual) chakra is the energy centre connected to creativity, pleasure, and emotional flow, alongside sexuality itself, and its influence extends well past any one of those categories on its own.

‍ ‍

A depleted or blocked sacral centre often shows up as low creative drive, numbness toward pleasure generally, or a sense of being stuck in life without a clear reason why. A well-regulated sacral centre tends to correlate with more ease, more magnetism, and a stronger felt sense of direction, the ability to know what you want and actually move toward it.

Working With It Rather Than Losing It

This isn't about suppressing sexual energy or treating arousal as something to avoid. It's the opposite: learning to notice where this energy habitually leaks out unconsciously, and building the capacity to hold, circulate, and direct it instead.

This is where tantra becomes such a direct tool. Rather than managing the downstream effects of depletion, tantric practice works with this energy at the root, through breath, embodiment, and guided bodywork, teaching the body how to generate and circulate this current consciously rather than losing it by default.

Bringing This Into Daily Life

You don't need to overhaul everything to start working with this. It begins with noticing: where does your energy leak without your consent, and where do you actually want it directed? From there, embodiment practices and guided work can build a much more conscious relationship with this current, one that supports not just your sexuality, but everything you're trying to create with your life.
